Qisda (formerly BenQ) aims to ship three million LCD TVs and 20 million LCD monitors in 2008, according to market sources. LCD monitor and LCD TV shipments from Qisda will total 12 million and nearly one million units, respectively, this year, the sources added.

In 2006, the former BenQ shipped 13 million LCD monitors, according the company. Earlier this year, the company said it expected to grow its overall LCD monitor shipments to 18-20 million units in 2007, but actual shipments fell short of this goal.

Although the company recently denied it had gained LCD TV orders from Sony, the sources indicated that Qisda has received 26- and 32-inch TV orders from another firs-tier TV vendor, Philips, with shipments to kick off next year.
